A historic milestone for the cell therapy field!

CAR-T therapy has achieved a major breakthrough by overcoming one of its biggest barriers: the first approval of a CAR-T therapy for the treatment of a solid tumor.

CARsgen’s satricabtagene autoleucel (satri-cel, CT041) has been approved for CLDN18.2-positive, HER2-negative gastric and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma—a landmark achievement after decades of struggle to apply CAR-T beyond hematologic malignancies.

Solid tumors have posed formidable obstacles, including an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, poor T-cell infiltration, antigen heterogeneity, and rapid T-cell exhaustion. This approval shows that, with the right target and engineering strategy, these barriers can be overcome.

This milestone provides strong clinical validation that CAR-T can succeed in solid tumors. It is likely to accelerate innovation in next-generation CAR designs and their applications in combination immunotherapies. This is a significant event—it marks the beginning of a new chapter for CAR-T therapy and solid tumor immunotherapy.
