As liver fibrosis advances in MASH, NK cells lose their effectiveness—a decline closely tied to reduced STING signaling. This impairment weakens immune surveillance and accelerates disease progression. However, by simultaneously activating the STING and insulin pathways, NK cell function can be restored. Combined STING and insulin pathway activation may reinvigorate NK cells and enhance immunotherapeutic outcomes in cancer and liver fibrosis.
